Milwaukee, Wis. - April 10, 2020 - 3rd St. Market Hall announced today that they have partnered with Ryan Braun and Christian Yelich of the Milwaukee Brewers and local companies, to provide meals for the frontline health care workers at four major hospital networks which include, Froedtert Hospital & the Medical College of Wisconsin, Aurora, Ascension and Children’s Wisconsin.
Christian and Ryan’s efforts inspired pledges of additional support for health care workers by local companies including American Family Insurance, Associated Bank, Jacob Leinenkugel Brewing Company and Sargento. These donations will start this weekend at Froedtert Hospital & MCW, where 1000 meals will be distributed to health care workers to take home and enjoy with their families.
“We’re grateful to be able to provide our healthcare workers with a meal to show our gratitude for how much they’ve been doing in this trying time! We’re all in this fight together and will get through it together,” said Christian Yelich.
“Thank you to all the healthcare heroes, first responders and frontline workers for tirelessly working to keep all of us safe,” Braun stated. “We are eternally grateful for your selflessness and inspired by your courage and strength,” stated Ryan Braun.
The Avenue development is helping facilitate the athletes’ effort as a way of showing a token of thanks for the health care workers around Southeastern Wisconsin. Meals for the staff and their families will be prepared and delivered by future food vendors of 3rd Street Market Hall which include; Milk Can Hamburgers & Custard, Saz's, Kimchi - Daikon and Donut Monster.
“I am incredibly proud of our vendors,” said 3rd Street Market founding partner Omar Shaikh. “These are all small restaurants facing their own struggles, but when I reached out requesting their help for this project, they all enthusiastically signed up with no hesitation.”
“First, we’re grateful for the tremendous outpouring of support from the community including the generous donation of meals for our frontline staff from Ryan Braun, Christian Yelich, all of the sponsors and the amazing team at 3rd St. Market Hall,” said Cathy Jacobson, CEO and President, Froedtert Health. “Our mission requires our team to literally provide hands-on care to the patients we serve, and our number one priority is the safety of our patients, staff and our community. This continued community support enables our staff to provide the exceptional care our community expects and deserves.”
Visit Milwaukee generously donated a financial pledge and co-developers of The Avenue, Josh Krsnak and Tony Janowiec, announced that The Avenue would match the donations made by Yelich and Braun.
“The health care workers across our community are facing unprecedented stress and risk this Easter on the frontlines of caring for the victims of the coronavirus,” Krsnak said. “Making sure they and their families have a good meal is one small way The Avenue and the 3rd Street Market community can say, ‘thank you’ to these dedicated professionals.”
