Associated Bank recently gifted nearly 13,000 evergreen tree saplings to customers throughout its three-state footprint to help amplify its sustainability and symbolize the strong roots the bank has in the communities it serves. Through a partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation, Associated Bank delivered saplings to each of its more than 200 locations for distribution to customers.
This sapling distribution is part of the bank’s recently announced Your Money Works Here™ campaign that highlights the bank’s commitment to the people, businesses and communities it serves throughout the Midwest as well as demonstrate how its customers are helping to invest in their local communities and businesses by banking with Associated Bank.
“The evergreen tree has long been a symbol of Associated Bank and it denotes our commitment to our communities and to sustainability,” said Christopher Piotrowski, executive vice president, CMO, Associated Bank. “That’s why you’ll see an evergreen tree in each one of our branches—to symbolize our commitment to the people and businesses we serve.”
Customers were invited to pick up a sapling at their local branch and show how they are #PlantingHere to improve their environment by sharing photos of their newly planted trees and tagging @AssociatedBank on Twitter and Instagram. Customers can participate further by following and engaging with #YourMoneyWorksHere.
The sapling distribution continues Associated Bank’s long history of making environmentally conscious and socially responsible choices, including efforts to manage its carbon footprint and investing in renewable energy. Since 2012, over $900 million in total credit commitments to support more than 30 wind, solar and hydroelectric projects have been made, representing cumulative generating capacity in excess of 6,500 megawatts. These projects, spanning across 15 states, generate a significant number of jobs in their surrounding communities while providing clean, sustainable power.
“We’re proud to build upon our 2018 sustainability efforts and further them in 2019 by partnering with the Arbor Day Foundation as we work towards a better environment together,” said Piotrowski.
Other Associated Bank sustainability efforts have included energy efficient buildings; utilizing “green” materials made of recyclable content or high life-cycle content; occupancy sensors & Energy Star compliance applications to manage energy use; and LED lighting programs.
