Associated Bank recently granted $6,500 to Rockford Rescue Mission, in support of their Works! Center and Vocational Program.

Launched in early 2017, the Works! Center provides vocational training and job experience for homeless individuals and residents of the Mission’s long-term programs, as well as for men and women in the community desiring to strengthen job skills and secure employment.

In addition to the grant, Associated colleagues teach budgeting classes to the program participants.

“As the economy starts to rebound, there are more employment opportunities now than during the past decade,” said Sherry Pitney, executive director, Rockford Rescue Mission. “The generous support of partners like Associated Bank will empower even more of our students to build new skills, secure employment and restore their lives.”

In 2018, the Works! Center offered educational assistance to 831 participants. As a result, 77 participants secured stable employment, 47 individuals received their Food Handlers certification and 12 students obtained their GED.
