In 2016, the Affordable Housing Corporation (AHC) of Lake County received $14,000 in donations from Associated Bank, allowing the organization to provide homeowners with financial assistance to make home repairs, upgrades and accessibility improvements. Associated Bank has been a proud partner through grant donations since 2014.

The 2016 donation specifically helped AHC make multiple emergency repairs in cases where they would otherwise have had to go through a timely approval process to receive funding. Some of the completed projects included:

  • Replacement of a well for an elderly woman living in Lake Villa. As a result of the project, she now has clean and safe drinking water.
  • Installation of a wheelchair lift for a disabled woman living in a second-floor condo. Before the repair, the woman was confined to her unit because there is no elevator in her building. The lift allows the woman to regain a level of independence and no longer be confined to her unit.
  • Floor and vanity replacements for an elderly woman living in Lake Villa. Broken flooring in her home was a hazard. Now she can feel safe living and navigating throughout her home.

“We are very appreciative of Associated Bank’s donation to this program,” said Rob Anthony, executive director of Affordable Housing Corporation of Lake County. “We’re able to leverage Associated Bank’s funds to get projects complete, like the wheelchair lift, that otherwise wouldn’t have been able to happen. The funds are incredibly helpful and we carefully use them to maximize our impact on the community.”
