ST. PAUL, Minn. – January 5, 2017 – Associated Bank recently partnered with Neighborhood Development Alliance (NeDA) to conduct a bilingual financial education workshop at Richard R. Green, Central Park School. A group of 30 Spanish-speaking parents attended the 12-hour workshop to learn about financial management and resources to assist with purchasing a home, which helps to strengthen the community.
The workshop featured a presentation about building favorable financial credit and affordable lending programs for homebuyers by Joannette Cintrón, residential loan officer at Associated Bank. In addition, Roxanny Armendariz, financial counselor at NeDA, spoke about budgeting to create savings, understanding the tax system, and building credit in the U.S.
Individuals who completed the workshop received a certificate, which enables them to apply for Family Assets for Independence, a matched savings account to help people with low incomes save for buying their first home. These individuals may also qualify for down payment and closing cost grants as well as affordable home loan products offered through Associated Bank.
“Associated Bank is proud to work with NeDA as a community partner to provide financial education and help people prepare for successful homeownership,” said Joannette Cintrón, residential loan officer. “My work’s greatest satisfaction is creating a sense of community through homeownership.”
“I’m so appreciative of Associated Bank’s commitment to community engagement,” said Roxanny Armendariz, financial counselor at NeDA. “Their work with NeDA has directly impacted the community we serve. It’s a blessing to be able to support Latinos with important and critical financial information.”
