To help provide needed relief to the thousands of Philippines victims of Typhoon Haiyan, Associated Bank is donating $10,000 to the American Red Cross. Funds will help the Red Cross distribute relief items, rebuild shelters, provide healthcare and ensure access to clean water and sanitation.

“We are grateful for the American public’s generosity and compassion following what has been called one of the strongest storms in world history,” said David Meltzer of the American Red Cross. That organization is coordinating relief efforts with the Philippine Red Cross, the largest humanitarian organization in that country.

Typhoon Haiyan struck Friday morning with winds that were 3.5 times stronger than those of Hurricane Katrina. The storm cut a destructive swath more than 100 miles wide through the islands. The winds drove a 13-foot wall of water over the cities of Tacloban and Ormoc, wiping out countless homes in the hardest hit areas.
