GREEN BAY, Wis. – November 15, 2016 – Associated Bank’s Stock the BoxTM for Hunger campaign to benefit Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin kicked off recently with a food collection and pep rally at Lambeau Field in partnership with the Green Bay Area Public School District and the Green Bay Packers.
Green Bay East, West, Preble and Southwest high school bands were challenged to a friendly competition to collect the largest food collection pile. Over 5,000 pounds of food was collected by the four schools, equating to over 4,200 meals.
"In the Green Bay Area Public Schools we have a tradition of giving back to our community," said Dr. Langenfeld, superintendent of schools and learning. "I am proud of all the hard work on the part of students, staff and families supporting this important community effort."
Preble High School had the largest food collection pile and received the $2,000 grant to their music program. The three remaining schools each received a $1,000 grant.
According to Megan Sweeney, band director at Preble High School, the money will be used toward an equipment trailer, along with a banner and flags to accompany their marching and pep bands.
Associated Bank’s Stock the BoxTM for Hunger campaign will take place in branches and corporate offices in Wisconsin, Illinois and Minnesota through the end of the year. At the end of the campaign, food donations will be paired to Feeding America member food banks in each of the communities. Only nonperishable, non-glass food items will be accepted.
This is Associated Bank’s first-ever food collection to take place across all three states.
“Associated Bank is excited to host our first company-wide food collection that will unify our colleagues and the communities where we live and work in the fight against hunger,” said Jill Wiess, corporate social responsibility manager, Associated Bank. “Food insecurity exists in every county in the United States and by hosting this collection at all our locations, Associated will make an even greater impact in helping provide food to children and the elderly.”
