On August 15, U.S. Veterans Magazine (USVM) released the results of its much-anticipated 2017 evaluation of the nation’s Best of the Best — recognizing Associated Bank as a Top Veteran-Friendly Company for the second consecutive year.
“Receiving this recognition reinforces the value we place on diversity and inclusion at Associated Bank,” said Elizabeth Strike, diversity and inclusion talent consultant, Associated Bank. “We know veterans have valuable skills that easily transfer to the civilian workplace and work to position ourselves as their employer of choice.”
Associated Bank’s diversity and inclusion (D&I) talent consultants on the Talent Acquisition team are responsible for developing, implementing and managing the D&I outreach strategies to include minorities, women, veterans and individuals with disabilities. With a goal of achieving 3% veteran hires by 2020, the team actively seeks the attraction and hiring of veterans through external partnerships, networking events, conferences, career fairs and a veterans outreach program to name a few.
“The Associated Veteran’s Network (AVN), colleague resource group, is one of the many resources Associated Bank offers to build a network of support for our military colleagues, their families and community members,” said Vicki Betts, senior project manager and AVN community involvement leader, Associated Bank,. “Our network is actively involved in programs and activities across our footprint that build personal and professional development opportunities for veterans, and facilitates philanthropic efforts in support of military veterans and veteran-centric organizations.”
U.S. Veterans Magazine polled hundreds of Fortune 1000 companies for this year’s Best of the Best evaluations. USVM’s goal is to open up employment, business and supplier opportunities within the federal government and corporate America for veterans, transitioning service members, disabled veterans, spouses and veteran business owners. The annual review is an evaluation of the nation’s employers, initiatives, government agencies and educational institutions. These nonbiased studies are valuable resources for jobseekers, business owners, students, consumers, senior management, business associations, employment agencies and consumer groups.
