On May 25, U.S. Veterans Magazine (USVM) released the early results of its much-anticipated 2016 evaluation of the nation’s Best of the Best — recognizing Associated Bank as a Top Veteran-Friendly Company.
“Through our leadership and commitment from colleagues, we are proud to receive recognition for the building of a truly diverse and inclusive culture at Associated Bank and be an employer of choice for veterans,” said Darcy Pierson, director of inclusion, engagement and change management leadership.
Associated Bank’s diversity and inclusion (D&I) talent consultants on the Talent Acquisition team are responsible for developing, implementing and managing the D&I outreach strategies to include minorities, women, veterans and individuals with disabilities. With a goal of achieving 3% veteran hires by 2020, the team actively seeks the attraction and hiring of veterans through external partnerships, networking events, conferences, career fairs and a veterans outreach program to name a few.
“Through attending these events geared towards veterans, we are able to leverage our internal Associated Veterans Network for referrals and serve as an outreach brand ambassador,” said Elizabeth Strike, D&I talent consultant and D&I council representative. “We are also advertising our current job opportunities through several social media channels and publications, and sponsoring several non-profit veteran organizations to help show our support of hiring veterans in the communities we serve.”
U.S. Veterans Magazine polled hundreds of Fortune 1000 companies for this year’s Best of the Best evaluations. USVM’s goal is to open up employment, business and supplier opportunities within the federal government and corporate America for veterans, transitioning service members, disabled veterans, spouses and veteran business owners. The annual review is an evaluation of the nation’s employers, initiatives, government agencies and educational institutions. These nonbiased studies are valuable resources for jobseekers, business owners, students, consumers, senior management, business associations, employment agencies and consumer groups.
