Associated Bank donated $1,000 to support the Johnsonville Boys & Girls Club of Fond du Lac’s second annual Spell for Great Futures team spelling bee event held on Wednesday, October 14, at the club.
The Boys & Girls Club is a youth-serving organization that empowers all young people to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens through academic, social and emotional support.
The fundraising event included participation of business leaders in and around the Fond du Lac community, as well as the club’s own members. The business leaders were randomly teamed up with club members via lottery selection to compete in this one of a kind event together.
“Our bank is honored to have had the opportunity to get involved with the Johnsonville Boys & Girls Club by sponsoring this great event,” said Dave Thiel, branch manager of Associated Bank. “We are also glad we were able to select an Associated Bank representative to assist with the spelling bee, as it’s a fun and unique way for adults to interact with and make a positive impact on the youth in our community.”
A large portion of the event’s success depended on corporate sponsorships and business leader participation. Sponsorship and participation by businesses like Associated Bank helped to ensure the success of the event. All proceeds directly impact the club’s academic programs.
“Our members are the lifeblood of our organization, and having individuals from sponsoring businesses participate in the event provides them a window into what makes our members special,” said Dan Hebel, chief executive officer for the Boys & Girls Club. “We are thankful that Associated Bank has joined in our effort to create great futures for our members!”
