On May 28, 2014 CAP Services of Stevens Point recognized the Associated Bank Service Center at their annual awards reception held at the Waupaca Ale House.
Associated Bank was awarded Corporate Citizen of the Year. This award represents the outstanding contribution to CAP’s anti-poverty effort from the business community.
To be worthy of this recognition, Stevens Point Service Center colleagues volunteered at the women’s shelter for multiple years through the Days of Caring events during the United Way campaign. They also hosted various donation drop offs for shelter needs during the year.
Lorraine Avery, senior vice president, director of customer service, accepted the Corporate Citizen of the Year award on behalf of Associated.
“Associated is honored to receive this recognition and is proud to be part of the community’s anti-poverty effort,” said Avery. “We are actively involved and look forward to our volunteer and outreach activities and hope to continue our involvements for many years to come.”
Mary Patoka, CAP Services’ President and CEO, said CAP’s success was due to staff, volunteers, donors and community partners choosing to invest in helping people move out of poverty.
“Too often we hear rhetoric about whether low-income people deserve to have their needs met,” said Patoka. “But given the opportunity, given a chance, they can make great things happen. Tonight, we honor those who have given their time, talent, and treasure to help even the playing field for low-income families.”
