Annette Washausen, a residential loan officer based at the Columbia, Ill., location, has come to work every day for the last 36 years with the same positive outlook: “It’s not work if you love what you do.”

After celebrating 36 years with Associated recently, Washausen is set to retire in January.

In December 1977, Washausen launched her banking career as a teller with then-called Citizen Savings. At the time, the branch was located at what is now Heartland Travel. In February 1978, the bank moved to its current location. “I have been with the bank longer than the building has been around,” she muses.

During her tenure Washausen held many roles, including bank manager. “I will miss all the people I’ve met over the years,” Washausen said. “I’ve enjoyed my time here, and the lasting relationships I developed along the way. I’m sure there will be tears and laughter — and many memories to cherish.”

In the community, Washausen is a member of the board of directors of the Waterloo Chamber of Commerce. She also serves on the Budget, Financial Review, Golf Tournament, Membership Dues and Guidelines committees and is treasurer for the Porta Westfalica Fest. When she retires, she and husband John look forward to traveling and spending more time with their children and four grandchildren.
