Linda Schulze’s smile often lights up the room when guests arrive at the Green Bay Botanical Garden. She’s been a devoted volunteer there since 2009, primarily as a greeter and assisting with special events. This fall, the Garden honored Schulze as its Special Events Volunteer of the Year to acknowledge her contributions to the organization.
“The Garden has an amazing group of volunteers who provide a variety of services — such as greeting people, helping with planting and weeding or doing school tours and special events,” Schulze said. “Knowing how dedicated they all are to the Garden, I was very honored to be recognized.”
One of many causes she supports in her free time, the Garden gives Schulze a chance to be involved in many special events that draw thousands to the Garden each year — concerts in summertime, the Family Fun Fest in the fall and, one of Schulze’s favorites, the holiday extravaganza that is the Garden of Lights.
“The Garden of Lights is always fantastic,” Schulze said, noting the incredible variety of light displays, horse-drawn wagon rides, children’s miniature train display and more. “It’s just a wonderful family experience, and we just have the best people involved — both paid staff and volunteers — who are devoted to making any visit to the Garden an experience to remember.”
