The Salvation Army of Brown County launched its annual Christmas Campaign to raise funds to help people who continue to struggle across Brown County during a November 12 ceremony at Associated Bank headquarters in Green Bay.

This year’s campaign theme, “Feed the Need,” is a reminder that there is an increased need in our community around the holiday season. The need could be anything from food to toys to clothing; whatever the need, The Salvation Army is here to feed that need.

The Salvation Army’s time-honored Christmas Campaign will include traditional fundraising methods, such as mail appeals, as well as the highly visible Red Kettles — a holiday tradition that has served as a symbol of goodwill for more than 100 years.

Associated Bank is also helping to make sure the Red Kettles are successful by contributing a $10,000 Kettle Match on Black Friday, November 29. This is the second year Associated is making this generous gift.

Locally, The Salvation Army of Brown County hopes to raise $1,150,000 to help sustain the vital programs and services that help people in need in their daily struggle for survival.

“We’ve set a conservative, realistic goal that balances the needs of our neighbors and the community’s capacity to give,” states Captain Ken Shiels, Brown County Coordinator. “The need increases during the holiday season, and many of our neighbors don’t have the means to provide even the very basic of needs for their families. We’ve been blessed with strong community support for many years, support that goes beyond monetary donations.”
