Associated Bank recently presented a donation of $15,000 to Family Services of Northeast Wisconsin, just prior to Family Service’s 2013 Green & Gold Gala on September 13 at Lambeau Field Atrium.
Family Services of Northeast Wisconsin is a non-profit, human services agency that protects, heals and cares for the children and families of Northeast Wisconsin. They offer over 30 programs that support the people of our communities during challenges and transitions in their lives. Since 1899, Family Services has assisted individuals and families of all ages and backgrounds.
Associated has been involved with Family Service for more than 50 years with both monetary donations and colleague volunteerism. Kristy Maney, Tim Lau and Denis Hogan all have a passion to help the children in need in our community and they are doing so through programs that benefit Family Services.
Kristy Maney, Vice President, Relationship Manager, Private Client and Institutional Services, serves as Member of the Board of Directors of Family Services, and is also on the Executive Committee, Fund Development Committee and Chair of the Green & Gold Gala for the past three years.
Denis Hogan, Green Bay Market President and Business Segment Leader, serves as Chair of the Executive Committee and also on the Leadership Council and Steering Team for Community Partnership for Children (CPC). The CPC is a "community change initiative" coordinated by the Brown County United Way that contracts with Family Services through their Healthy Families Program. The vision of the CPC is to ensure that all children are safe, healthy and ready for kindergarten. To accomplish this, the United Way and multiple partners are collaborating and leveraging resources to: reduce child abuse and neglect, improve child health, ensure optimal child development and strengthen families.
In Brown County 44 percent of all newborns are born into at-risk environments (homes surrounded by drugs, crime, mental illness and more). CPC are able to reach out to parents prenatally at local hospitals and depending on the risk rating, qualify them for a very intensive hands-on program where case workers visit the homes and help parents raise these children in the most crucial first years of life.
Tim Lau, Executive Vice President, Head of Private Client and Institutional Services, serves as Chair of the Advisory Board of Willow Tree Cornerstone Child Advocacy Center. Willow Tree, now in its third year, provides a safe, child-friendly facility with a home-like atmosphere where children and their families can go to report abuse and begin their recovery.
Prior to Willow Tree, abused children would have to repeat their story numerous times to police, social workers and others, and would shut down in such intimidating situations which allowed abuse to continue. At Willow Tree, the have a comforting place and tell their story just once. Trained staff and technology assists law enforcement in the prosecution and provides support and ongoing therapy for the children.
“We are all involved in a different way and although these programs have different names, they are all basically centered around or part of Family Services of Northeast Wisconsin,” said Maney. “Through these programs we’re seeing positive progress in meeting the needs for children and families that are in terrible situations, often times beyond their control.”
The 2013 Green & Gold Gala is Family Services largest fundraising event of the year.
