Wisconsin Council of the Blind and Visually Impaired recognizes Associated Bank with Corporate Appreciation Award The Wisconsin Council of the Blind & Visually Impaired held their "Scholarships, Sports and Service" event in the Lambeau Field Atrium on Saturday, August 18, to celebrate their 60th anniversary.

The council's mission is to promote the dignity and independence of the people in Wisconsin who are blind and visually impaired by providing services, advocating legislation and educating the general public. The council is funded through an annual drive, private grants and bequests.

Nine scholarship recipients were recognized and Executive Director Loretta Himmelsbach congratulated the students on their perseverance and commitment to education. She commented, "You are the stars in this room, and you will make the world a better place in your own way and in your own time."

Associated Bank was recognized with the Corporate Appreciation Award for being a major sponsor of the 60th anniversary event and other events during the year. John Duffy, Trust Marketing Manager, accepted the award.

Special guest speaker was former Green Bay Packer wide-receiver Bill Schroeder sharing stories about the many obstacles he had to overcome in his life in order to achieve his goals and dreams. "We all have obstacles to overcome in everyday life. Don't give up. Follow your dreams and keep your promises to yourself."
