STEVENS POINT, Wis.-January 12, 2012-Colleagues at the Associated Bank Stevens Point Service Center and local bank office spread holiday cheer through giving to three charities during the holiday season. Each year, the Associated Advisory Committee, an internal team, coordinates events for the service center throughout the year, to include the holiday giving. This year's holiday giving took about four months to plan and resulted in a great contribution to the community.

"The committee wanted to help as many community members as possible this year, so they asked colleagues at the service center to participate in three separate holiday drives. Continuing their successful tradition of giving back, the colleagues collected Coats for Kids, Toys for Tots, and food and hygiene items for The Salvation Army," said Tami Fourness and Heather Wynne, Associated Bank drive coordinators.

Associated was able to contribute to the Stevens Point Toys for Tots collection of over 2,500 toys, 779 stocking stuffers and 100 books with Associated donations at 70 toys, 260 stocking stuffers and books. Colleagues also collected monetary donations and were able to buy two bicycles. "Associated's donations were greatly appreciated by families this year," said Jami Gebert, Toys for Tots.

In coordination with Coats for Kids and the Salvation Army, colleagues also collected more than three large barrels of coats, mittens, boots, hats and scarves for kids and adults in need. "Coats for Kids collect more than just kids items. We've had a number of adult items collected as well," said Fourness.

The Salvation Army in Stevens Point on average helps 150 families in need and this specific location also operates as a shelter. The items donated by Associated included many personal hygiene items the residents of the shelter need on a daily basis. When Wynne delivered the first collection boxes before the holidays, one resident was very excited about the shampoo and toothpaste donated. "It really puts things in perspective when someone is grateful for something so basic, and we're glad we can make a difference," said Wynne.
